SuRf'S uP, DooD!!!! ;-) Quick message: Lately on Wednesday nights we've been going to other youth group meetings titled as "Refiner's Fire." It's at Mary Our Queen (Go south past 120th and Center, turn left on Valley, it will be the 2nd right, park near the church) from 8:00pm until about 10:00. College students are welcome, there are a few that come nearly every week. It's basically a praise and worship session, but the people are cool and yeah. 'Nuff said. If anyone wants to come but needs a ride give me ring. You know my NuMbAH.
Happy No-School-caz-it's-too-amazingly-awesomely-cold-Day!!! ~Kathleen

Manners are the happy ways of doing things; each one a stroke of genius or of love, now repeated and hardened into usage, they form at last a rich varnish, with which the routine of life is washed, and its details adorned. If they are superficial, so are the dew-drops which give such a depth to the morning meadows.

Just to give everyone an update, Janet H. and her husband meet Saturdays when they can in the SEA parking lot at 7:45 AM to go down to Gabe's corner and pray. A few of us went on Saturday and it was pretty amazing. They have a great place. It's right across the street from the family planning center... you can pray indoors, outdoors, or both! We were actually able to go across the street to the abortion clinic and pray outside their iron fence. Some people came really early and prayed outside, then came indoors for the holy hour, which was beautiful. Rosary, Divine Mercy Chaplet, Prayers to close the abprtion clinic.... it was cool. My mom loved it and is going again this coming weekened, Januray 5th. I would go but I'm going to Iowa for a girls' retreat. I'm inviting you, no, I'm telling you, you need to go sometime. At least once, to either Gabe's corner or Bellevue. I'm going to try to go as many Saturdays as I can. I can call the teens to see what they're up to, but as for core members if you ever want to go, or wake up on a Saturday morning and don't have anything to do, just give Janet or I a call. You have my number, but I can give you hers. Just.... not on the Internet. ;-) Mucho amor peoples. ♥♥♥ Kathleen

I'm pretty sure no one's going to read this, and I'm not quite brave enough to speak with anyone right at this moment... So rightio. Let's post it, shall we?
...
The Church. I know the basics about it, but that's pretty much it. I would like to learn more? I don't even know why. I guess it's just so interesting to listen to Matt and the other seminarians talk about various "church-y things"-- like, why certains things are there, what they represent. Like, why there's always a type of stone on the altar of a Catholic church, what doxology is...(Sorry Padre, I just had to bring it up). I think it's really cool, and it seems like there so much that's there that we've never even noticed. So.... A while ago we were verbally conversing about what we could do more of as a group. I honestly couldn't think of anything right then, but now I'm thinking that maybe we should take time to learn more about the church? And it's not like I'm expecting the core members to do tons of research or anything... I can do it too. So... Anybody know any good books?
♥ Mucho Amor

CHRISTMAS BREAK IS HERE!!!!! AT LAST!!!!!! (And I still have homework)
By: ,
Dec 21 2007, 4:45 PM EST
Right now, I really have no preference, It's just kind of a "hmmmm.... I'm clueless" sort of thing. Like, just yesterday I was having a conversation with my lovely Winnie The Pooh bear (in Spanish! What now?) and I just started thinking about the church and I realized that we as teens know virtually nothing about it. (I thought that part in English!) ;-) But it's a lovely feeling. ... I really have no preferences, I really don't even know where to start. It's like shopping for Chrustmas presents... You don't know what you want until it's right there in front of you, IN YOUR FACE. ;-) I do like how Padre has put some random stuff about the church in his sermons... Random Facts are very nice....
Well, this was a long reply. The point I'm trying to make is: I'm cluless. If you were able to even remotley decipher that from this message, congratualtions, I'll send you a check in the mail. ;-) Now I need to get started on Spanish homework. Espero que mi profesora no nos da más tarea durante nuestra vacación. Ya nos da más que podemos hacer. Adios, Cassie. Mucho Amor ♥♥♥

ABORTION CLINIC: The message is above as well as below. Plan on a few hours, I believe we're going on a tour afterwards.
FOOD BANK: We're going. Yeah, what now. We're meeting at the SEA parking lot at 9:00AM (Yes, it does involve getting up) and are going to be a local Bag N' Save's worst nightmare. Plan on 3 hours tops. Last time it was this because the mapquest didn't work (again!) and I couldn't find Coleman's house. And then there was traffic....
Basically, what we're doing is buying a bunch of food and driving it down to the Nebraska Food Bank. Non-perishable Food Items and Toiletries. TP is always good (Matt's idea!). Buying sugary items are not encouraged. Health food is good. Canned Veggies. Turkeys. Yup.
For whoever reads this, If you want to come, COME! By all means. Even if you don't have money. I'll take out plenty for the both of us. ;-) If you have a friend who wants to come, bring 'em along! The more the merrier!
So.... Meet in the SEA Parking lot at 9AM, we'll be done around NOON. Everyone is invited!
Thanks bunches! ~kathleen

Hope is itself a species of happiness, and, perhaps, the chief happiness which this world affords: but, like all other pleasures immoderately enjoyed, the excesses of hope must be expiated by pain; and expectations improperly indulged, must end in disappointment. If it be asked, what is the improper expectation which it is dangerous to indulge, experience will quickly answer, that it is such expectation as is dictated not by reason, but by desire; expectation raised, not by the common occurrences of life, but by the wants of the expectant; an expectation that requires the common course of things to be changed, and the general rules of action to be broken.

I was verbally conversing with my AP Bio teacher who, when confronted with the idea that stem-cell research might just happen to be morally wrong, said "But all they can do now is throw the frozen cells away." What do you say to that?
I'm curious.

I mean, like, the frozen stem cells of babies that they would kill to do research on. Don't they like, create the embryo in a test tube or something and then destroy it? I know they kill the embryos. My teacher is for the embryonic stem cell research that would kill even more, and uses the excuse that scientists need to do something with the already frozen ones, so "why not?" I had no idea what to say to him on that. Anyone have a good idea?

Howdy Do. I have to go to work right now so I can't do any mass phone calls right away but as to our little whatchamacallit abortion clinic prayer outing, It will be Saturday the 29th, and we will need to meet in the parking lot at SEA by 8:00AM. We are going to go down with Janet Hyde -- she will lead us down to Gabriel's Corner, the pregnancy counseling center in Council Bluffs. What it's going to involve: There is an 8:30-9:30 Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, which involves music, the Divine Chaplet, and the Rosary. It will be indoors, but there is a little window looking out in which you can see young women entering the family planning facility. I talked a deacon on the phone, who actually is the founder, and he said we could get a tour of Gabriel's Corner afterwards. We can stay later if we want. There is a group of people holding signs and praying outside (we can join them afterwards if you want) but since this is our first time I think that praying at the Exposition would be better. ... This is something that should be done more than just once. Does once a month sound good to you all? I can get what dates would be good for everyone, and call the facility in advance to ask if they will be open. Alrighty people's, Tengo solamente una cosa más: Reed Mike's message. I'm kinda covering it. We should all buy tickets and go to the concert as a group.
Well, I'm late for work. But what else is new? Happy Saturday! ♥♥♥ Mucho amor, Kathleen

I'm on the "New Covenant Productions" email list, and I get messages regarding upcoming concerts. I saw that Casting Crowns is coming back this spring - tickets from ticketmaster starting on Sat.
I also got an email that Jeremy Camp/TobyMac/Matthew West are coming as well...you can get early tickets to this one. Good deal, since I bought my FRONT ROW tickets to Chris Tomlin in the same way. Check it out if you're a fan.
"As a New Covenant Productions customer, you have access to purchase tickets to the upcoming Jeremy Camp/TobyMac concert before the general public. There are a limited number of floor seats and they are all general admission. The rest of the seating is reserved. This means that the earlier you purchase your tickets, the better seats you will have. Also, every group of 10 tickets purchased qualifies to receive $5.00 off per ticket. (Group tickets must be purchased directly from the Qwest Box Office. Tickets must be purchased in blocks of 10 to receive the $5.00 discount on tickets.) When can you purchase your tickets? Right now!"
